Chickasha Public Schools recently announced that Mona Greenfield will be serving as Student Accounting, Assessment, and Communications Coordinator for the coming year.
Mrs. Greenfield is a familiar face to CPS, but will assume this new role focusing on student information system, enrollment, district state testing coordination, and website development.
Greenfield has worked in the field of education since 1994, with her entire career serving the CPS community. She served as the vocal music teacher at Grand Elementary from 1994 until 2002. From 2002-2008, she served Chickasha High School as the vocal music director, where she directed Phase IV, Act 1, and Steppin’ Out and created a class piano lab. Her most recent assignment has been as a guidance counselor at Chickasha High School.
Greenfield holds a Bachelor of Art in Education from East Central University and a Master’s of Education, School Counseling, from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She holds certifications in vocal music, speech and theatre, and school counseling, as well as, multiple professional development certifications related to instruction and pedagogy.
Greenfield said she is excited to assist the district with accountability and data reporting. With a school counseling background, she understands the importance of healthy and responsive communication, which is why she is excited about leading the district with the implementation of a new website and communication platform. Her attention to detail will ensure that state reports are accurate and state testing programs are organized in the best possible way for kids.
When asked about her favorite aspect of working for CPS, she responded, “I love working with the students, whether it was the music we made or the huge smiles on their faces as they are the first in their family to graduate from high school; they inspire me. I enjoy it when I see them outside of school or years later and they remember something we sang, or something I helped them with; they inspire me. I may not remember all of their names, but I do remember all of their faces. And now some of my early students have students here, that is a lot of fun, too. Another favorite aspect of working for CPS is the people I work with on a daily basis. I have forged lifelong friendships in the years of my employment at CPS. These people are among the very best.”
Greenfield has been married to Tom, who is a Licensed Professional Counselor and ordained minister, for 41 years. They have three children, all who graduated from CPS. They are blessed with five grandchildren, who affectionately call her GG (Grandma Greenfield).
