Wheels, nails and pinewood on a downhill run Nov. 10

The Sixth Annual Pinewood Derby is set for Sunday, November 10 at the Grady County Fairgrounds. Weigh-in begins at 1:30, racing at 2:30.
The event is open to the public and has several different age group divisions. Those wishing to participate can get a kit which includes a block of wood, wheels and nails to build a regulation derby car.
Then you would plan your design with a quick sketch; cut your block or save time with an Official Pre-Cut Pinewood Derby Block. You would sand your car and optionally add weights to reduce friction and increase speed. Then add your personal touch with paint, stickers, decals and sound kits.
Twenty or more racers are expected for the Sunday event. They will be divided into age groups 5 to 8, 9 to 12, 13 to16, and Adult.
To participate contact John Haggerty at 910-545-7540. He can sell you a starter kit for $5.00 and an entry fee of $3.00.
The event is sponsored by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church of Chickasha.
