Rock Island Arts Festival coming round the bend

The 16th annual “Rock Island Arts Festival” is happening SOON, and the Chickasha Area Arts Council volunteers are finalizing the preparations! All of the Arts Festival activities and vendor booths will be located on Chickasha Ave. between 4th and 6th in Chickasha.
Thousands of people from the community, out-of-town, and out-of-state are expected to join in the festivities Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27-28, in downtown Chickasha. The Festival is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. both days.
Sue Getman, RIAF 2024 Director and Co-Director Erin Thompson anticipate an outstanding Arts Festival.
To date, nearly 70 vendors have registered booth spaces for the Arts Festival. Vendors and festival participants include artisans, crafters, authors, face painters, wineries, breweries, community groups, businesses, acoustic musicians, performers and more. A children’s area with activities, including pumpkin painting and a sand pile, are planned. A new feature of the RIAF this year is a mural contest with prizes for the winners.
Information and updates of the 16th annual Rock Island Arts Festival are posted at rockislandartsfestival.org and also on Facebook.

Hosting the “Rock Island Arts Festival” takes months of planning and preparation by the Arts Council to make it a very special event. The CAAC has partnered with the

Chickasha Chamber of Commerce, City of Chickasha and other event representatives to now sponsor what is known as the “Rock Island Weekend” in Chickasha. Other weekend events include the Oklahoma Food Truck Competition, Ride the Rock bicyclists on trails around Chickasha, and Together We Heel walkers!
The CAAC’s Rock Island Arts Festival Committee is very appreciative of all the supporters and sponsors for their assistance with each year’s Festival. Our sincere thanks to all who volunteer their time, energy, supplies and donations to make this a very special and memorable activity.
For those who enjoy and would like to support the programs of the CAAC and RIAF and help with the continuation of their community activities, donations may be mailed to CAAC, PO 505, Chickasha, OK 73023 or contact the RIAF Director at director@rockislandartsfestival.org or 405-274-7547. Supporters may also donate online at www.chickashaarts.org by selecting the ‘Donate’ button at the bottom of the home page.
The Chickasha Area Arts Council organized its first free, fun and family-friendly Rock Island Arts Festival in 2009. The RIAF became an annual event, expanding and adding more of everything to make it entertaining, fresh and festive for visitors near and far!
In March 2019, the 10th annual Rock Island Arts Festival 2018 received the distinguished award of being selected as the ‘Event of the Year – 2018’ at the Chickasha Chamber of Commerce’s annual Banquet and Fundraiser event!
