Grady County 4-H’ers recognized at 103rd State 4-H Roundup


A group of Grady County 4-H’ers were recognized for their achievements in 4-H at the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma Honor Night Assembly during the 103rd State 4-H Roundup at Oklahoma State University.
Ellen Williamson, a member of the Rock Island 4-H Club, was named the state record book winner in the achievement project. She received a $1,200 scholarship sponsored by the Harold and Edith Shaw Memorial Endowment. She is the daughter of Luke and April Williamson.
Curtis McDermott was named the state record book winner in the conservation of natural resources project. His $1,200 scholarship is sponsored by the Oklahoma Vegetation Management Association. He is the son of Bryan and Sheresa McDermott.
The winner of the state record book honor in the geology project was Rustin Elliott. He received a $1,200 scholarship sponsored by OERB. He is a member of the Grady County Horse Club and the son of Brad and Keli Elliott.
Charramaiyne Brown is a member of the Grady County Shooting Sports Club and was named the state record book winner in the shooting sports project. Her $1,200 scholarship is sponsored by the Oklahoma City Gun Club. She was also named a member of the Blue Award Group. She is the daughter of Curtis and Amanda Brown.
 Winning the state record book in the public speaking project was Abby Pettijohn, a member of the Alex 4-H Club. She received a $1,200 scholarship sponsored by Noble McIntyre of McIntyre Law. She is the daughter of Michael and Lori Pettijohn.
Grady County Horse Club member Mesa Payne received the Ira Hollar Advanced Leadership Scholarship in the amount of $1,200. This award is sponsored by the Ira Hollar Endowment. He also received the Noble Research Institute Soil Health and Regenerative Agriculture Scholarship. This $1,200 award is sponsored by the Noble. Research Institute. In addition, Payne was named a member of 4-H Key Club. He is the son of Jay and Rebekah Payne.
KenLynn Chaney received a $1,200 Rule of Law Graduating Senior Scholarship sponsored by the Rule of Law Endowment. She also was named a member of 4-H Key Club. A member of the Rock Island 4-H Club, she is the daughter of Jay and Sherrie Evans and Amanda Chaney.
Bailey White was a member of the Teen Leaders 4-H Club. She received the $,1500 Stowers Family Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship sponsored by the Stowers Family Endowment. She was an active 4-H’er for nine years and attends OSU. She is the daughter of Cody and Aimee White.
Shane Williams took home top honors in the Charles and Betty Smith All Other Projects Science and Technology project area. He received a $1,200 Scholarship sponsored by Orlean and Shane Smith. He was also selected to serve as a delegate to National 4-H Congress that will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, later this year. In addition, Williamson was named a member of 4-H Key Club. He is the son of Luke and April Williamson.
 Georgia Nelson, a member of the Rock Island 4-H Club, was named the state record book winner in the All Other Projects Agriculture and Natural Resources project area. She received a $1,200 scholarship sponsored by the Oklahoma Vegetation Management Association and the Dr. Gary and Becky Stone Endowment. Nelson also was named a member of 4-H Key Club. She is the daughter of Oscar and Burgundy Nelson.
In all, Grady 4-H’ers earned a total of $24,200 in educational scholarships.

The Oklahoma 4-H Youth Development program provides experiential and hands-on learning opportunities to help youth learn valuable life skills they need to become leaders within their clubs, communities, state and world. Most programming is available at little to no cost. 4-H membership is open to youth in each of Oklahoma’s 77 counties where OSU Extension educators are equipped with research-based information to help all residents solve local issues, promote leadership and manage resources.
