The University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma proudly announces the 24th season of the Davis-Waldorf Performing Arts Series, featuring a lineup of exceptional arts entertainment through music, dance, storytelling and comedy. Continuing its focus on arts accessibility and education, all tickets for k12 students will be free again this season. Season tickets are now on sale for this season that features the return of some favorite performers and amazing acts never seen in our region.
On Sept. 19, the #1 tribute to Presley, Perkins, Lewis & Cash, “One Night in Memphis,” kicks off the season. This high-energy rockabilly, gospel, and country-classic infused concert takes you back to December 4, 1956, the night when Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash gathered for an impromptu jam session at Sun Studios in Memphis. This group, often celebrated as the Million Dollar Quartet, re-imagines a moment of rock-and-roll history in this all-ages show by singer/songwriter John Mueller.
Here in time for the holiday season, Kuniko Yamamoto will enchant audiences Nov. 21, 2024, with her one-woman performance that features Japanese folktales. Combining traditional musical instruments, magical origami masks, and mime, she will present her storytelling show that offers a new and mesmerizing theatrical experience for the whole family.
Prepare to be thrilled on Feb. 13, 2025, with FLY Dance Company’s fusion of street dance and classical music. Visiting from Houston, Texas, “The Gentlemen of Hip Hop” bring their signature performance style which blends acting, b-boy style, and a range of music that surprises and delights audiences of all ages. Since 1992, they have been spreading their infectious style worldwide; if you loved breaking at the 2024 Olympics, don’t miss these FLY moves!
The Second City Touring Company returns to campus to close the season with a performance on March 27, 2025, celebrating 65 years of legendary laughs. This blend of improv and sketch comedy showcases audience favorites written by illustrious alumni like Catherine O’Hara, Tina Fey, Keegan-Michael Key, Stephen Colbert, Bill Murray, Joan Rivers and more. The material, handpicked from their iconic comedy archive and brought to life by an all-star ensemble, will demonstrate why The Second City remains the world’s most influential name in comedy.
All performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the 2024-25 season cost $80 for a season ticket, which provides a seat to each show; individual tickets are available for $25 each. This year, DWPAS’s subscription partnership continues with Chisholm Trail Arts Council. Season ticket holders will receive a FLEX pass that provides, with advance reservation and confirmed available seating, a ticket to one event of the CTAC Live Concert Series.
The mission of the Davis-Waldorf Performing Arts Series is to encourage attendance at high-quality performing arts events as an aspect of a liberal arts education for students, to provide an affordable cultural and entertainment resource for our college family and community, and to lead local arts education by presenting relevant and culturally diverse programming that broadens the aesthetic of our audiences. For more than two decades, the series has brought world-class performers from a range of styles to the USAO campus.
