Gracemont man arrested after shootout with Law Enforcement

Multiple Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers were wounded after an arrest warrant turned into a gunfight in Caddo County.
Investigators spent Friday at a home in Gracemont, where a tactical team served an arrest warrant the night before.
The suspect, 35-year-old Preston Lange, was wanted by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections after he allegedly cut off his ankle monitor. When officers showed up at his mom’s house in Gracemont, the suspect began shooting from inside the home.
Lange was serving an at-home sentence for grand larceny, burglary and being a felon with a gun. When U.S. Marshals and troopers arrived on the scene, the shootout began.
OHP said they struck the suspect. Several troopers sustained minor injuries.
“Members of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol tactical team, they did take fire. They also returned fire. Suspect was struck,” said Preston Cox with OHP. “Right now, they are still being evaluated by our investigators, and those details will come out at a later time.”
OHP was assisting the U.S. Marshals with the service of a warrant.
While attempting to serve the warrant, the suspect inside the home fired multiple rounds at OHP troopers causing minor injuries to multiple troopers.
Troopers returned fire, striking the suspect. The suspect was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the shooting.
Troopers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave.
OHP Troop Z is currently investigating the incident.
