Chickasha OK Police Investigate Swatting Call


CHICKASHA, Okla. – February 4, 2024 – At approximately 2:39 A.M., Chickasha Police Dispatch received a swatting call involving a residence in the 1000 block of South 9th Street. Swatting is a crime involving making a false report of an ongoing serious crime to elicit a response from law enforcement to a particular address.

In this case, the caller reported he had just shot and killed both of his parents, wanted to blow up his home, and would shoot Officers who responded. Officers established a perimeter around the house as first responders from the Chickasha Fire Department, Grady County Sheriff’s Office, Chickasaw Lighthorse, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, and Ninnekah Police Department responded to assist in the response.

Officers were able to contact the residents inside the home, who were safe and not involved in the call received by Chickasha Dispatch. A house in the 1300 block of Park Avenue was believed to be involved and was also cleared. The residents at that home were also unharmed. 

Officers determined the call was a hoax. The origins of the call are under investigation. False reports made to emergency services are criminal offenses that violate state and federal laws, each punishable by fines and imprisonment. In addition to the potential danger to first responders and homeowners, valuable resources are consumed during these responses.
