December 20, 2023 – Oklahomans who “Thunder Up” to save lives at the annual Oklahoma City Thunder Holiday Blood Drive will receive a voucher to an upcoming OKC Thunder game and a limited-edition OKC Thunder T-shirt!

The OKC Thunder will support Our Blood Institute’s annual Holiday Blood Drive on Wednesday, December 27th, at the YMCA at 725 West Chickasha Ave in Chickasha. Donors can give blood from 12:30 to 5:30 on the OBI Bloodmobile.

Donors can show their Thunder pride by rolling up a sleeve and sharing the priceless gift of blood during the holiday season. Blood donations are especially needed during the holidays, since so many people are busy, yet the need for blood remains constant for patients across the state.

“We are excited and grateful to partner for the 16th year in a row with the Oklahoma City Thunder for this fantastic blood drive, which has saved countless lives since it began,” said Dr. John Armitage, president and CEO of Our Blood Institute. “The Thunder and their fans are the true definition of the Oklahoma Standard: committed to making a difference in the lives of patients in our hospitals during this season of giving.”

As a bonus, now through January 12, blood donors can earn DOUBLE Donor Store points by downloading the new OBI mobile app and scheduling and keeping their donation appointment! *Double points valid only on appointments scheduled through the OBI mobile app and applicable to base points. Appointments must be completed by January 12, 2024, to qualify. Donor store will be open through January 2024 to redeem points.

Our Blood Institute relies on 1,200 volunteer blood donors a day to meet the needs of patients at more than 160 hospitals and medical facilities as well as all air ambulances statewide.

Anyone who is healthy and 16 years old* or older can give blood. Blood can be donated every 56 days and platelets can be given as often as every seven days, up to 24 times a year.
