OBITUARIES

Paul Clinton Gayle

August 6, 1974 – October 25, 2024

Chickasha, OK

A funeral service for Paul Clinton Gayle, 50, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024, in the Bible Baptist Church with Will Coulter officiating and Pastor Emeritus Kim Hayes assisting.

Paul was born August 6, 1974, in Talihina, Oklahoma to Fred Edwin Gayle and Jolene (Coulter) Gayle. His father passed away when he was four months old. He was raised by his mom Jolene Derrick and his dad Jackie Ray Derrick. Paul passed from this life unexpectedly on Friday, October 25, 2024, in Topeka, Kansas.

He grew up in Durant and graduated from Durant High School in 1992. He then attended the Art Institute in Dallas for a year before moving to Chickasha in 1994.

On May 5, 1995, he married the love of his life Marcy Schenk and they were in their 30th year of marriage.

Paul worked in the oilfield for a time, starting as a worm with Ward Drilling and working his way to driller with Latshaw Drilling. He was a self-taught welder and he excelled at it and worked for ALU-WELD in El Reno. He then began his 20-year career with Cimarron Trailers, where his coworkers became like his family.

He was the funniest, smartest, caring, and patient man. He was very noble and loyal and at the same time independent and hard-headed, but most of all very loving and self-sacrificing. He was goal-crushingly ambitious and determined and he held a lot of pride in what he did. Paul was a die-hard Sooner and Dallas Cowboy fan. He spent a lot of time fishing, which was his favorite pastime.

In his death, Paul showed his giving spirit by donating his organs and was able to save the life of a 46-year-old man from the Midwest.

Paul was preceded in death by his father Freddie Gayle; his mom Jolene Derrick; his dad Jackie Ray Derrick; and an infant.

Loved ones left to remember him are his wife Marcy of the home in Manhattan, Kansas; children P.J. Gayle of Hinton, Jessalynn Gayle of Manhattan, Kansas, and Jakeb Gayle and wife Tylene of Chickasha; grandchildren Daxton Smith, Sayge Gayle, Jaxson Gayle, and Zoa Gibson; his “brother in life” Jess Schenk; brother Glen Gayle; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and his Cimarron family.

Viewing for Paul will be on Thursday, October 31st from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Ferguson Funeral Home, with the family present to receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

The interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
