Matthew William Ware

Matthew “Stoney” William Ware, 61 of Anadarko, Oklahoma, was called home by the Lord on Saturday, October 19, 2024. He was born on December 18, 1962, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to William “Bill” Ware and Rowena Whitehorse Ware. He grew up in Anadarko, Oklahoma, He attended school at Anadarko and Riverside Indian School, where he was a member of the high school band. He was a member of the American Indian Music and Dance Show, where he had the privilege of traveling and dancing across the United States.

He was a member of the Kiowa tribe and served as the Bustle Keeper for the O Ho Mah Lodge for over 8 years, he was a great leader and was proud of his position.

He enjoyed working on cars, singing, spending time with family, and hanging out with his little buddies, Froglegs and Bitty Bitty, while also watching and running his niece and nephews (Glenn, Brian, and Crystal) to all their activities while growing up. His greatest love was for his daughter, who he considered his “Pride and Joy” and his family.

He was an avid fan of the Oklahoma Sooners, Dallas Cowboys, Nascar, Elvis Presley, and Kentucky Fried Chicken.

He worked at Riverside Indian School for 18 years, where he formed many friendships and treated the kids as if they were his own. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his mother, Rowena Whitehorse Ware, his daughter, Stonee Addisyn Whitehorse Ware, his siblings, Janice Condulle and husband Keeno, Jeff Ware, and Janel Ware all of Anadarko, OK, and, Jarrett Ware and his wife Candace of Chickasha. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and other relatives.

He is preceded in death by his Father: Bill Ware, Paternal grandparents: Wilson Ware and Pearl Pewo Ware, Maternal Grandparents: Matthew “Mac” Whitehorse and Lucille White horse, and other relatives

The wake will be at 7:00 pm, on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Ware’s Chapel United Methodist Church, in Anadarko, OK.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, October 25, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Anadarko, OK.

Interment will follow at Ware’s Cemetery, in Anadarko, OK
