One dead, one injured in accident near Duncan Bypass


A Lawton woman died and an Elgin woman was injured in an accident at 4:31 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, a half-mile south of the Duncan Bypass and W. Bois “D” Arc Ave., in Stephens County.
The cause of the accident and what occurred is still under investigation by Trooper Zachary Wright of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Elizabeth J. Brundage, 61, of Lawton, was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Cruze. She was pronounced dead by Duncan Fire Department paramedics and transported to the Medical Examiner’s office in Oklahoma City. The driver of a 2020 Toyota Rav 4, Maia Bennett, 59, of Elgin, was transported by Survival Flight EMS to Duncan Regional Hospital where she was admitted in fair condition with unknown injuries.
Seatbelts were in use in both vehicles.
Trooper Wright was assisted at the scene by Trooper Sheldon Glass, Trooper Kyle Keithly, Lt. Forrest White, the Duncan Police Department, Duncan Fire Department and Survival Flight EMS.
