Stewart and Beth Ann Meyer, along with family and friends, will be leaving for their 24th annual walk to Stillwater, May 10. As a kick-off on May 9, the Meyers are hosting the “18th Annual Craig Meyer Memorial Walk for Special Olympics”. The Meyers invite the community to join them at the Chickasha High School football field anytime from 5 to 7 p.m.
The walk is in memory of their son, Craig. Special Olympics was very dear to his heart. He began volunteering at Special Olympics events with his dad when he was in third grade.
Registration is $30. All profits will go to Special Olympics Oklahoma. You may walk one round, one hour, or the entire two hours. There will be bottled water and fruit.
The registration fee includes a t-shirt. Walkers may pre-register or register the day of the walk. Pre-registration makes sure the correct shirt size is available.
Local band Tim Brauer and First Look Music will be performing again during the walk.
The Meyers have written and published a book, Craig’s Story, which is available at the walk for $13. Profits from this book go to the Craig Meyer Memorial Scholarship Fund for CHS seniors.
Since 2001, the walks have raised $204,779.
