A 21-year-old Alva man was pinned between two fire trucks in a field 10 miles north of Gage in Ellis County at 12:36 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28.
Ronald Vasquez was transported by Ellis County EMS to a nearby landng zone for Air-Evac, which carried Vasquez to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was admitted in stable condition with trunk internal injuries.
Vasquez was a passenger in a brush pumper truck from Greenleaf Fire Department of Woods County driven by Jeffery Bush, 48, of Alva. The brush pumper came over a hill on S. County Road 184 and struck a 2007 Freightliner tanker truck driven by Glenn Cushenbery, 59, of Alva. The tanker was stopped attempting to make a left turn into a field when the collision occurred. The impact trapped Vasquez between the pumper tank and the cab of the Freightliner.
Neither driver was injured. Authorities listed the cause of the accident as “obscured view.”
