The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a personal injury collision happened about 2½ miles east of Chickasha on Tuesday, December 12 shortly before 6 pm. The accident occurred on US 62 at County Street 2880.
A 2018 GMC Sierra driven by Clay H. Scott, 36, of Blanchard, and a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Juana N. Castro, 26 of Chickasha, were eastbound on US-62. The Jeep Grand Cherokee was attempting to make a left turn onto County Street 2880 and was struck from the rear by the GMC Sierra. After being struck, the Jeep entered the westbound lane and was struck by a 2021 Volkswagen Atlas driven by Leland D. Looper, 49 of Blanchard.
The driver of the Jeep was transported by McClain/Grady EMS to Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, where she was treated and released. Passengers in the Jeep included three Juveniles, ages 1, 3, and 6 years of age who were transported by McClain/Grady EMS to Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, where they were treated and released.
The driver of the Volkswagen Atlas Leland D. Looper was transported by Chickasha EMS to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where he was treated and released. A passenger, Marisoll Looper, 42 of Blanchard, was transported by Tuttle EMS to Norman Regional Hospital in Norman, Ok then transferred to OU Medical Center where she was admitted in critical condition with trunk internal injuries. Juvenile passenger, 14 of Blanchard, was transported by Tuttle EMS to Norman Regional Hospital in Norman, where she was treated and released. A Juvenile passenger, 9 of Blanchard, was transported by Chickasha EMS to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, then transferred to OU Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City, where he was admitted in fair condition with head and trunk internal injuries. A Juvenile passenger, 11 of Blanchard,was transported by Tuttle EMS to Norman Regional Hospital in Norman,where she was treated and released.
The cause of the collision was listed as inattention and the incident was investigated by Trooper Tyler Shelby #619 of the Grady County detachment of Troop G. Assisted by Trooper Joshua Jackson #436 of Troop G, Grady County Sheriff’s Office, Grady County Fire Department, Chickasha Fire Department, Grady/McClain EMS, Chickasha EMS, and Rush Springs EMS.
