Chickasha Famous Leg Lamp Solar Eclipse Picnic


 On October 14th, Chickasha will be in the 77th percentile of viewing the annular solar eclipse. To mark this special occasion, Chickasha is inviting the community to come picnic in the park at the Leg Lamp. There are plenty of wonderful restaurants that will be open within walking distance to enjoy or bring your favorite picnic items. Grab those blankets or lawn chairs to come enjoy the Celestial sky show and scenery around the growing park. The partial eclipse begins around 10:20 am with its peak at 11:48 am concluding at 1:23pm.
 They will have 100 solar glasses and 100 handheld viewers available for purchase in which all proceeds will be donated to Chickasha Community Foundation towards the New Downtown Park. How to View a Solar Eclipse: Make a Pinhole Projector. Remember to never look directly at the sun even more so during an eclipse. Solar eclipse glasses will be available at Downtown Mercantile and visitor center for $5 all proceeds going to CCF for the upcoming park.
This is a family friendly gathering to observe the Solar Event so bring your best self out to enjoy the afternoon with your family and the town of Chickasha afterwards. The Leglamp and all its trees around the park will cast fantastic shadows for you photography buffs. So come out and enjoy this celestial event at the Leglamp.
Twisted Chef food truck will have some great food and Brandi’s Bar and Grill will have a to-go special for the picnic. Kenny D’s Ka•Jin Fumoir LLC is coming to the picnic for your Cajun food needs.
