Graveside Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Alex Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Loretta Mae Burton passed from this life on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at her home in Alex, OK, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 86. She was born November 17, 1936, in Chickasha, OK, to Everett and Xelpho Cox.

Loretta was raised on a farm Northeast of Alex. She attended Alex Public Schools until she married Durl Ray Burton at age 16. They were married on July 18, 1953, and were married for 70 wonderful years. 

She worked at Grady Memorial Hospital for many years. She then worked for the highway department where she retired.

Loretta and Durl lived their life on their farm where they raised their three sons. Loretta was the one in charge of all the farm operations such as the finances, bookkeeping, all the way down to the cooking. Her meals were always a blessing and made with lots of love. Loretta enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a great Christian woman who longed to meet Jesus. Her last breath here was her first breath with her Lord and Savior.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Xelpho (Pike) Cox.

Loretta is survived by her husband, Durl Ray Burton of Alex; sons, David Burton of Alex, Barry and Leigh Ann Burton of Rush Springs, and Steve and Robin Burton of Alex; grandchildren: Jennifer Burton, Linsey and husband, Bert Reynolds, Whitney and husband, Jeff Sikes, Courtney Burton, Veronica and husband, John Owings, Ronald Roberts, Steven and wife, Sheri Burton, Ashley and husband, Garrett Foster; great-grandchildren: Zane Burton, Briggs Burton, Emerson Foster, Creed Foster, Sloan Foster, Mallory Burton, Ella Burton, Samuel Sikes, and Liam Owings.
