Manual Garcia, Jr., of Yukon, Oklahoma was born on June 18, 1966, to the late Manual and Ester Garcia of Chickasha, Oklahoma. He passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 30th, 2023, while vacationing in the Texas Hill Country. He was 57 years old.
He was known as Junior to his family and JR to his friends and co-workers.
JR was raised in Alex, Oklahoma, where he graduated high school. During high school he was a popular young student and active in the football program during his junior high and high school years. He remained very athletic during his adult years and for a time was very active in bicycling. He participated in Oklahoma Freewheel several years along with the MS 15, Hotter’n Hell Hundred in Texas and numerous other fund-raising bike tours throughout Oklahoma and surrounding states. He upgraded manual pedals to his motorized 2 wheeled Harley motorcycle and enjoyed several trips with friends over the years. He was an avid outdoorsman and found peace and comfort in nature. He loved to hike and was successful in hiking to the top of Longs Peak in Estes Park, Colorado, as well as making the trek up the Summit in Taos, New Mexico three times. He was planning another hike up the Summit in September of 2023.
At the time of passing, JR was employed by EnLink Midstream Energy Resources. Prior to EnLink, he was employed by Kinder Morgan Energy Infrastructure and Solutions.
JR was preceded in death by both of his parents, grandparents, and several uncles and aunts.
JR was the youngest of his siblings.
He is survived by all his brothers and sisters along with their spouses; Albert and Glenda Ochoa, of Colony, Oklahoma; BJ and Angela Garcia of Thomson, Georgia; Neill and Bess Garcia of Ridgway, Colorado; Betty and Danny Shaw of Chickasha, Oklahoma; Susie and Tom Avant of Chickasha, Oklahoma; and Debbie and Al Berry of Ozark, Missouri. As well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is being planned by the family for Friday, October 13, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the home of Danny and Betty Shaw in Chickasha, Oklahoma. His brothers and sisters ask that you keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
