Wonderful Wednesday

Wonderful Wednesday is a focus on happenings in the area as well as people who are doing good things in the community. If you would like an upcoming event listed or to recognize someone of note, drop us an email at: news@washitavalleyweekly.com.
In this issue we salute the Kiwanis Club of Chickasha. Kiwanis is a global organization that helps kids around the world. Local clubs look out for their communities and the international organization takes on large-scale challenges, such as fighting disease and poverty. Kiwanians are generous with their time, creative with ideas, and passionate about making a difference in improving the world one child and one community at a time.
Among the local Kiwanis activities are The Terrific Kids project in the Public Schools, Kid Art Contests, and Displaying Flags in the community on special holidays. The Chickasha Kiwanis Club helped start the Oklahoma Adopt a Highway Program. The Club was the first group in the state to Adopt a two mile stretch of Oklahoma Highway. They still maintain this stretch of road from downtown Chickasha East to the Washita River. The Club President is Jason Pruner. Heather Witt is the Secretary-Treasurer. The club meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at Simmons Bank, 500 W. Grand.
