The 16TH Annual Craig Meyer Memorial Walk for Special Olympics is slated from 5:00 pm to 7 pm,
Thursday May 5, 2022 at the Chickasha High School football field. The walk will help raise funds and
awareness for the Special Olympic Summer games in Stillwater.
Craig Mayer started working at the summer games when he was in the third grade and continued until his tragic death in a plane crash at age 26. His parents Beth Ann and Stewart Meyer began the walk in his honor and each year for the past 22 years have also walked from Chickasha to Stillwater in support
of the Special Olympics Summer games. The Meyers walk to Stillwater will start on May 6.
The May 5 event in Chickasha registration fee is $25 and supports Special Olympics and Grady County athletes. Each participant in the walk will receive a t-shirt and can register by contacting the Meyers at bam3Omeyer or by calling 405.226.2507. T-Shirt size orders need to be submitted by Friday, April 22 or as soon as possible.
Supporters may walk a few rounds or the entire two hours. There will be bottled water and fruit. The band Tim Brauer and First Look Music will be performing. Music to walk by.
The Meyer’s have written and published a book Craig’s Story which is available at the walk for $13. The profit of these books go towards CHS scholarships
