Chickasha Community Theatre presents The Big Day beginning Thursday

Chickasha Community Theatre will be presenting ‘The Big Day’ this week beginning Thursday, March 3 at 7:30 pm in the historic Washita Threatre in downtown Chickasha. Subsequent performances will be the following Friday and Saturday at 7:30 and a Sunday matinee and final performance at 2:00 pm.
You ever have a “Big Day”? We all have. Not quite like this group, however. Take the case of Butch and Murph, who decide to hold up a bank only to find that Murph is the “one millionth customer!” amid a flurry of confetti. Or little Phoebe, whose class assignment was to write a 500-word essay on her “Big Day” in which she tells of her birthday party where the dog set the couch on fire.
We see the invention of the wheel and what it was REALLY for. And then there’s Lucille, who gets her first driving lesson from her father … the church pie sale being only one of her victims along the way. Or the big graduation from a training school where two guys have to fill in for 14 classmates. Reality television gets a send-up as do those “man on the street” interviews.
The Big Day was written by Pat Cook, the same author who brought you many other comedies such as “Barbecuing Hamlet” and “Little Town of Christmas.”
Tickets are available at the door or at Jay’s Jewelry, 327 Chickasha Avenue.
