Billie Frank “Tootsie” Hopper of Chickasha, OK passed away peacefully on October 4, 2021 after a long battle with dementia. Tootsie was born June 6, 1936 in Lovington, New Mexico. She was employed by Frontier Airlines when she met and married C.F. “Joe” Hopper on April 29, 1966. They spent most of their lives in Farmington, NM until Joe retired in 1997. They moved to Albuquerque where they lived until 2015. They then moved to Chickasha, OK to be closer to their girls. Tootsie was a loving wife and incredible mother. She was active as a local and state president of the New Mexico Business and Professional Women’s Organization (BPW). She and Joe loved spending their summers at their cabin in Vallecito Lake, Colorado.
Tootsie was preceded in death by her parents, Eva McMillian and Buel E. “Slim” Wimberly; a sister, Evelyn Strawn; and a brother, Ben Wimberly.
She is survived by her husband Joe Hopper and three daughters and their husbands: Shronda and Kirk Shannon of San Angelo, TX; Kristy and Darren Martin of Chickasha, OK; and Karla and Dominic Kollasch of Richardson, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Chris Shannon and wife Stephanie from Coppell, TX; Derek Shannon and wife Paulina Padilla of Houston, TX; Kay Leigh Shannon of Lubbock, TX; Michaela Martin of Oklahoma City, OK; and Bailee Martin of Edmond, OK. She also had three great-grandchildren: Jack, Cori and Crew Shannon of Coppell, TX.
Tootsie was greatly loved by her friends and family and will be terribly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
Services will be held at 10:00am on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Trinity Baptist Church in Chickasha, OK. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
