New Special Education Coordinator Hired in CPS


Chickasha Public Schools recently announced that Tammy Swinburne will be serving as the new Special Education Coordinator.
 Swinburne has served in the field of education for 26 years, with the past five years serving as the district psychometrist. She has also served other districts as a classroom teacher, K-12 school counselor, principal, and superintendent.
 Swinburne holds a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science from Northwestern Oklahoma State University and possesses the following certifications: Superintendent, Secondary Principal, Elementary Principal, School Psychometrist, Elementary and Secondary Counselor, Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Mild/Moderate Disabilities, Severe-Profound/Multiple Disabilities, Mid-Level English, and Psychology/Sociology.
 Her favorite aspect of working at CPS is the ability to work with the best professional staff and faculty. She’s excited to expand her current role to get to work with more teachers in a new capacity.
 When asked about a goal she has for this new position, she commented, “My goal is to assist the fantastic special education team in achieving the best educational opportunities for our students. This will be done through the cooperation and support of an administrative staff that puts students first and values quality education”.
 In her spare time, Ms. Swinburne loves to garden and can her own produce. She enjoys all kinds of crafting and outdoor activities. She and her husband will be celebrating their 31st wedding anniversary this summer. They have two grown children and a wonderful granddaughter. They love making memories by camping as much as possible
