June is the month of fun

 June is always a busy month in Chickasha, Grady County and the State of Oklahoma in general. There are a lot of things that are family friendly to see and take an active part in. Summer is officially here on Sunday, June 20 along with Father’s Day. Here are some local and area activities you may want to put on your calendar.

Wings and Wheels
 Chickasha’s 2021 Wings & Wheels Fly-in and Car Show will be held at the Chickasha Municipal Airport at 2344 Beechcraft Rd. (approximately 2 miles north of Chickasha off Highway 81) on Saturday, June 19 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.  
 This year, the Father’s Day Weekend event will feature a dazzling airshow, with coordination and operations by David Schultz Airshows LLC. The event will feature Kate Kyer, the Falcon Flight Formation Team, a Texas-based flying team performing in experimental aircraft, and Curt & Paul Richmond, as well as the crowd favorite RC Jets!
 In addition to the airshow, there will be free Young Eagles flights for children 8-18, a car show, vendor booths and food trucks. Admission to the family-friendly event is free.
Schedule of Events
 • 9 am to 12 pm – Free Young Eagles Flights for children 8-17. Registration for flights begins at 8:30 a.m. Limited spots available!
 • 12 pm – Car Show and Aircraft Awards
 • 12:30 pm – 2 pm – Airshow
 • 2:30 pm – Young Eagles flights resume. Registration for the second session will begin at 2 p.m. Limited spots available!
 There is no cost to enter. Fly-in awards will be given for Best War Bird, Best Antique (1949 or earlier), Best Contemporary (1950 and later) and Best Experimental Aircraft. Car show awards will be given as well.
The Grand Car Show
 Father’s Day Weekend – Saturday June 19, 2021 beginning at 8:00 am. at the Grand Assembly Church, 102 East Almar Drive in Chickasha for their Car Show. This family friendly event features beautiful classic cars that will compete for awards, plus there is also a craft show.
 There is a $25 entry fee for each vehicle entered. Classes include: Street Rod, 1950’s, 60’s, 70’s & 80’s, classic muscle, modern muscle, truck, rat rod, drag car, & open class. The tradition of handmade trophies continues! There is no cost to attend the show.
Quilt Workshop
 Caddo County OHCE will host a Quilt Workshop June 24th and 25th in the Baldwin Building at the Caddo County Fair Grounds, 1019 E Broadway St in Anadarko. Quilters will be learning a pattern called “Buzz Saw”. Quilters of all skill levels are welcome. Attendance is limited to 40 quilters and no lunch will be provided. The cost is $5.00 per day. Twisterfest
 The Muscle Car Ranch located at 3609 S 16th in Chickasha, presents a weekend music festival that highlights the great talents of Oklahoma artists. From Friday, June 25 to Sunday, June 27 college students and the owner of Muscle Car Ranch, Curtis Hart put this event on for all the people of Oklahoma to come together and experience great local artists first hand.
 This event showcases all genres of music and there are booths set up where local artists display their original works. There will also be food trucks at the event selling food and drink.

Okie Noodling Tournament
 The one of a kind event has been going on for several years and if you haven’t attended you are missing an all Oklahoma event.
 Bring your lawn chairs to Wacker Park in Pauls Valley June 18th and 19th and celebrate the sport of noodling at the world-famous Okie Noodling Tournament.  
 Noodling is the practice of fishing for catfish with only your bare hands. See what all the fuss is about at this one-of-a-kind event that includes food vendors, live music, children’s activities and more. Admission is free but there is a $5 charge for parking. Stampede the Trail Half Marathon/5k/Kids Marathon
 Jun 26, 2021 – Jun 27, 800 Chisholm Trail Pkwy, Duncan. Kid’s marathoners will receive a t-shirt and participant medal with their registration. One adult is allowed to participate FREE with the child. Adults who would like t-shirt and medal must register. Freedom Fest in Lindsay
 Celebrate summer in Lindsay during Freedom Fest, a family-friendly event to celebrate Independence Day Saturday June 26 from 10 am to 9 pm. This fun-filled day will kick off with the national anthem and the parade immediately after.  
 There are a variety of vendors to browse through along with activities throughout the day including games, bounce houses, mechanical bull rides, hot dog eating and most patriotic contests, pony rides, and helicopter rides.
 When hunger strikes, stop by one of many food trucks around the festival.  
 Freedom Fest will feature exciting live entertainment by The Mullet Boyz at Glenn Curlee Park. At dusk, pull up your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a vibrant fireworks display at dusk.
