A single vehicle roll-over accident approximately six miles west of Rush Springs claimed the life of one person on Saturday, October 24 at about 5 am in the morning.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, a 2007 Dodge, westbound on State Highway 17, failed to negotiate a curve to the left and departed the roadway to the right, re-entered the roadway, crossed the center line and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to overturn. The vehicle continued and departed the roadway to the right, overturning an unknown number of times before coming to rest on it’s wheels where it became engulfed in flames until it was discovered by a passerby.
The occupant determined deceased at the scene and was transported to the Medical Examiners Office in Oklahoma City and had not been identified by press time.
The accident was investigated by Trooper Thomas Setters #647 of the Caddo County detachment of Troop G. Assisted by Trooper Zachary Johnson #404, Trooper Darin Carmen #552, and Trooper Jacob Dickinson #515 of Troop G. Also assisted by Grady County Sheriff’s Department, ACME Fire Department, Rush Springs Fire Department, Rush Springs Police Department and the Medical Examiner’s Office.
