Chickasha will once again be host to the largest auto swap meet in Oklahoma. The 52 Annual Chickasha Swap Meet begins this week.
Come rain or shine, hundreds of vendors from far and wide will be filling up the Grady County Fairgrounds, inside and outside and they will all be ready to wheel and deal. Visitors who attend this free event should come expecting to see a vast and unique collection of everything auto including, parts, classics, antiques, street rods, muscle cars, accessories, auto literature, memorabilia, signs, modern vehicles, special interest items and so much more. Swap Meet Hours are: Wednesday, October, 14th, 1pm -6pm; Thursday, October 15th and Friday, October 16th, 7:30am-6pm; Saturday, October 17th, 7:30am-4pm. No early access to the grounds will be permitted. Parking is also free and concessions will be available on site.
This annual event is spearheaded by The Chickasha Antique Auto Club. Headquartered on Chickasha Avenue in the historic Rock Island Depot, the club also maintains a transportation museum. The proceeds from the Auto Swap Meets they hold bi-annually, the second full weekend in May and the third full weekend in October, enabled the club to build both the museum and restore the historic Rock Island Depot. The club donated both facilities to the City of Chickasha. Funds also go to support a variety of charity programs including various church groups and a homeless mission. The club welcomes visitors to their meetings held on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
No invention has been so transforming to the landscape of the Unites States as the automobile. As early as 1913, when Henry Ford started rolling the Model T off the assembly line, they also began rolling into our hearts, our lives and our industries. For both pleasure and for commerce, automobiles are Americas favorite means of transportation.
So, pick a day, pack up the family and come on out and immerse yourself in all things auto. It will be a one of a kind experience and an auto lovers dream.
