OBITUARIES

John “Mac” King

May 5, 1949 – October 9, 2020

John McKenzie King was born May 5, 1949 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to O.B. and Lola Vae (McKenzie) King.  He passed away at his home in Chickasha on October 9, 2020.  Mac was 71 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at First Baptist Church, Chickasha, OK, with Michael Butler officiating and Kim Hayes.

Mac married Martha Lea on September 11, 1970.  They celebrated 50 years of happy marriage this year.  They were married at First Baptist Church where he is still a member.

Mac grew up and lived his life in Chickasha.  He graduated from Chickasha High School in 1967.  He then went on to one year of college.

His first job was doing construction contract work for several builders.  Then in 1973 he went to work for Chickasha Fire Dept.  He retired from CFD after 25 years.

Having lived in Chickasha all his life, Mac had developed and still had lifelong friends from Junior High.  He also had a special place in his heart for all his fellow firefighters.

Mac had so many things he enjoyed through life.  As a kid he loved water skiing.  Then later he looked forward to the snow skiing trips.  He competed in several 100 mile bicycle rides, ran in many run events, and enjoyed a good golf game.  But one of his favorites was his motorcycle trips with all his buddies.  They made so many good memories through all those miles together.

However, the most important part of Mac’s life was his faith in God.  He was so thankful for His love, grace and peace.

Mac was preceded in death by his father O.B., mother Lola Vae, stepfather Bob Lawrence, father-in-law Roy Lea and mother-in-law Shirley Lea.

He is survived by his wife Martha;

Sister Sandy and husband Charley Johnston;

Sister-in-law Lorraine Baugh;

2 nephews, Billy and Bryan Whinery;

Several cousins that are very special and a multitude of friends that he loved.

Also, thank you so much to the staff at Davita Dialysis, more than just medical care, you touched Mac’s heart.

Following the service, the burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Chickasha, OK or to a charity of your choice.
