Virginia Woody, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, at the age of 81. Born on December 1, 1942, in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, Virginia’s life was a tapestry woven with faith, family, and a profound sense of community.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the Rush Springs Cemetery with Rev. David Hale officiating. All arrangements have been entrusted to the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services.
A viewing will be held Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs from 8:30 AM- 12:00 PM.
Virginia grew up in Rush Springs, where she later graduated from high school, setting the stage for her lifelong role as a dedicated homemaker. Her life was a testament to her faith-filled spirit, as she was an active member of the Rush Springs Methodist Church, where she found great solace and joy.
Family was the cornerstone of Virginia’s world. She was a loving mother to her sons, Kevin Gerald Woody and Bobby Dean Woody, and a nurturing mother-in-law to Teresa Woody. Her legacy continued to flourish through her beloved grandchildren, Jennifer, Matthew, Mitchell, and her precious great-grandchildren, Savannah Lyles, Rylea Horton, Ashlyn Woody, Dylan Lindsey, Tyson Woody, Deazil Woody, Jayce McWilliams, Blakelyn Woody, Jaxxon Harrison, and Julian Woody.
Virginia’s brother, John McClure, along with sisters-in-law Kay and Cleta McClure, fondly remember her warmth and kindness. She was preceded in death by her cherished parents, John and Bela (Johnson) McClure, her devoted husband, Bob Woody, her beloved son, Kevin Woody, her sister, Loretta Coleman, and brothers, Mickey and Richard McClure.
An avid gardener, Virginia’s hands were often found in the earth, nurturing plants to life. Her crocheted blankets were a tangible expression of her care, enveloping loved ones in warmth. Virginia and her husband shared a passion for auctions, a hobby that complemented their love for family days, filled with laughter and togetherness.
Virginia Woody’s life was a reflection of her loving and generous heart. She will be remembered as a pillar of strength and a source of unconditional love. Her faith-filled journey on earth may have concluded, but her spirit will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
