September 20, 1949 – November 9, 2024
Chickasha, OK
Nova Jean Parton was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma on September 20th, 1949, to Paul and June (Loughridge) Parton and passed from this life on November 9th, 2024, surrounded by her family at the age of 75. She was a graduate of DHS class of 1967.
Nova worked for the Duncan School system for several years after graduation before beginning a career with Halliburton in August 1971. She worked for Halliburton for 49 and ½ years. In June 2023, she purchased the Forget Me Not antique store. This store, its customers, and vendors were her absolute passion, and she made many new friends.
Nova loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved working with her hands and loved to have a good pile of brush to burn. (It runs in the family.) She loved the outdoors and was always working on some kind of project and building something. She recently made tea towels and embordered the days of the week on them and just finished her 87th set within the last year. Nova had a heart of gold and was a friend of so many and is going to be missed but will live forever in our hearts.
Nova is survived by her partner Angela Weatherford of Ventura, California, one child Adrian Hadlock, two sisters, Paula and Eddie Younger of Malvern, Arkansas, Rhonda and David Cantwell of Duncan, and a brother Jim Parton, and husband Richard Smith, of Marion, Iowa. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, extended family, and a host of friends, one lifelong friend being Nancy Minter who was like a sister since grade school. They all loved her deeply.
Nova was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Paul O. Parton, and two nephews, Paul Cantwell and Matthew Cantwell, and her much-loved fur baby, George Henry.
No formal service is planned at this time. Family visitation will be at Bailes Polk funeral home on Friday, November 15, between 5 and 7 pm. Please bring a Nova story or memory to share with the family.
