A funeral service for Karen “Kay” Hart, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2024, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Emeritus Kim Hayes officiating.

Karen Kay Hart was born on October 11th, 1943 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Kay was the youngest of two girls born to John Elmer Martin and Evangeline Latimer Martin. Kay attended high school in Chickasha where she was Head Majorette. She graduated from Chickasha High School in 1961.

In 1963, Kay met her best friend and the love of her life, Anthony Hart. On June 5th, 1964, Kay and Anthony wed. Together they raised three daughters, Tamala Kay Hart, Robin Lynn Hart, and Tracy Diane Hart (Graham). Kay was a small-town girl with a love of traveling. She and Anthony were blessed to travel the world and set out on many adventures together. They were a team and rarely did you find one without the other. Of their many adventures together, one of their most well-known is Hart Trailer. Kay and Anthony started Hart Trailer in 1968 and together they went on to set the industry standard in horse trailer manufacturing. Kay played a key role in managing the company that is still in business today. Kay helped run Hart Trailer until her retirement in 2010.

Kay was an avid reader and skilled pianist. Kay was a very strong woman who in many ways was the picture of resilience. She was one of the original board members of Special Young Adults, an organization that was a prominent part of her life and held a special place in her heart. Kay was an advocate for those who could not advocate for themselves. Kay wore many hats during her lifetime. She was a loving wife and mother and a savvy businesswoman. When Kay was not taking care of her home, managing a company, or traveling the world, she could be found at the bowling alley where she competed in a bowling league for many years. Kay and Anthony were blessed with grandchildren and great-grandchildren along the way. She was an adored wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

Kay attended Parkview Christian Church in Chickasha, OK. She loved spending time with her family and was a dear friend to many. Psalm 30:5 says that ‘weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning’. On November 11th, 2024, joy came for Kay as she went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
