Alvin A Beene


June 19, 1933 – September 25, 2024

Alvin A. Beene, 91, of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, September 25th at his home in Fort Cobb. A life celebration is planned for 2:00 on Saturday, September 28th at Fort Cobb Church of Christ. Graveside will follow in Fort Cobb Cemetery. Billy Clabaugh and Rick Beene will be officiating.
Alvin was born on June 19, 1933, near Bradley in Grady County the youngest of nine children. Alvin started his education at Sea Chapel before going to nearby Bradley where he graduated in 1953. In high school, Alvin drove the school bus and worked his summers in the oilfield. Alvin was a very good basketball and baseball player on very good Bradley teams. He also began his lifelong love for raising horses and being a cowboy.
Alvin married the love of his life, Patsy Glenn, of Alex on January 23, 1954. Immediately following the wedding Alvin served his country in Korea. The couple were married for over 70 years. Alvin and Patsy raised two boys, Alvin Otis (Shorty) Beene and Richard (Rick) Glen Beene. They also kept a bonus daughter, Doris McNeil Thibeaux, by way of Tipton Children’s Home for several years.
The Beenes made their first home in Anadarko and soon after moved to Washita where they lived part of three decades before moving to Fort Cobb in 1974 where they lived until his passing. Alvin was an active civic member in both Washita and Fort Cobb. He was a faithful employee at Public Service Company in Washita for almost forty years. He served as a board member in Washita for several years. Alvin was a deacon at Anadarko Church of Christ and a deacon and elder at Fort Cobb Church of Christ. Alvin was also a war veteran. For several years he also worked on the Election Board. Alvin enjoyed helping people and often stepped in to help people in need through the years. Growing up poor during the Great Depression taught him to have a helping hand for those in need. Alvin was also very involved in politics and was very patriotic about America.
​Survivors include his wife Patsy Irene Glenn Beene of the home, sons Alvin Otis Beene and Louella of Fort Cobb, and Rick Beene and Dana of Durant. Grandkids Colt Beene and Tiffany of Fort Cobb. Nick Beene and Andi of Hoxie, Arkansas, Lacy Harris and Joe of Hydro, Alex Beene of Nashville, Tennessee, Nathan Beene and Liz of Ft Smith, Arkansas, Austin Beene and Summer of Durant. Great-grandchildren include Kaden Harris, Kasen Harris, Jaxton Beene, Eli Beene, Jacy Harris, and Nash Beene. He was preceded in death by parents Otis and Vera Beene, eight siblings that he loved dearly, and in-laws Frank and Opal Glenn.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 27, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Saturday, September 28, 2024, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Fort Cobb Funeral Home.

Services are under the direction of Fort Cobb Funeral Home.
