In her early years, Jana grew up in a rural area where she enjoyed playing with her brother and sister. She graduated from Apache High School in 1969. She went on to attend Cameron University, graduating in 1985 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She taught first and second grade at Apache Public School for 23 years and, deservingly, won Teacher of the Year in 2008. Jana loved working at the school and would rarely take time off. She loved teaching and seeing the smiling faces of her students each day. What made her most proud was having past students come up to her while out shopping to thank her for their early teachings.
On April 26, 1989, Jana and Jim Roberts were united in marriage in Apache. They built a life together in Apache, Edmond, and Elgin. Jana enjoyed traveling, taking trips with her mom and dad, and snow skiing. Most of all, Jana loved spending time with her grandsons both outside and in the swimming pool they put in for them to enjoy. She will be dearly missed but her family will remember her as a devoted wife, mother, and Nana.
