October 21, 1949 – September 10, 2024
Blanchard, OK
Walter Kearn “Slick” Jervis, of Blanchard passed away at the age of 74, on September 10, 2024, in Norman. The son of Walter Finis Jervis and Margaret Bernice (Berry) Jervis, Slick was born on October 21, 1949, in Chickasha.
Slick and Donna Lee Dennis were married on May 26, 1972. They have lived in Blanchard for the last 52 years, most of that time, living on the farm where Donna was born. Slick graduated from Dibble High School and worked as a bricklayer for many years. He owned and operated Kearn Jervis Masonry. After retiring from bricklaying, he enjoyed working for Oklahoma Roofing in OKC for several years. While working other jobs, Slick was also a farmer. He loved raising livestock, running cow-calf and hay operations, and especially raising show pigs. Slick’s hobbies included hunting in the mountains and fishing in Alaska. He enjoyed coaching his sons when they were younger. But his greatest joy came with his grandkids. He was their biggest fan, whether it was at pig shows, little league games, or softball games.
Slick was an involved and devoted husband, dad, papa, or just “Slick”. But his family extended way beyond his biological lines. He touched the lives of many young people throughout his life by allowing them to work on the farm, supporting them through FFA, or just being there for them. Every one of them was very special to Slick.
Slick is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Barry Kendall Jervis, and parents-in-law, George and Fern Dennis.
Slick is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Donna Jervis; two sons, Brian Jervis and wife Staci of Sapulpa and Drew Jervis and wife Chrystal of Blanchard; four grandchildren, Billie Ann Jervis, Josie Jervis, Gadson Slick Jervis, and Gannon Jervis; brother-in-law, Hal Dennis and wife Toni; aunt, Hiwanahia Pike and many extended family and friends.
