Wilma Frances Willis

Wilma Frances (Verner) Willis was born November 24, 1924, in Grady County, OK, to William Harve Verner and Abbie Lee Stewart Verner. She grew up in the rural Marlow and Rush Springs area. Wilma graduated from Rush Springs High School in 1943.

Wilma accepted the Lord as her Savior when she was 13 years old at a brush arbor revival in the Old Trail Community and was baptized in Rush Creek Southeast of Rush Springs.

Wilma married Harvey Raymond Willis on November 6, 1943. To this union were born five children: JoAnn, Carolyn, Robert Glen, Roy Lee, and Linda.

She worked several years in Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed needlework, crafts, and playing Mexican train dominoes with her friends at Somerset Manor Apartments. She also loved reunions (both family and school).

Wilma is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, six sisters, a grandson, and a great-grandson. She is survived by two sons: Robert Glen (Bob) and wife Lynn; Roy Lee and wife Jolene; three daughters: JoAnn Hale and husband David; Carolyn Cravens; Linda Harmon and husband James, thirteen grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be available to the public on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 12:00 PM until 8:30 PM at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.

Services will be held at Vimy Ridge Baptist Church on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 2:00 PM, with Rev. David Hale, Rev. Robert Willis, and Dr. Eric Willis officiating. Burial will be in Rush Springs East Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Roberts, Kris Gifford, Wesley Cook, Michael Then, Daniel Henderson, and Zaylon Mahtapene.
