Sue Wynell Chaney

07/29/1954 – 08/10/2024

Chickasha, OK

Sue Wynell Chaney, wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, in her home in Chickasha, Oklahoma surrounded by the love of her family.  Services were held at Victory Family Church in Chickasha on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 3:00 PM.  She was available for viewing on Thursday, August 15, from 9:00 AM-7:00 PM and Friday, August 16, from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM at McRay Funeral Home in Chickasha.

Sue was born on July 29, 1954, in Oklahoma City to Delmer and Betty Humphreys.  She married Jackie Ray Chaney, of Chickasha, on August 11, 1972.  She was a dedicated homemaker and mother to their four sons, Adam, Kevin, Mark, and Jeremy.   Her family and her faith were the most important things to her.

She was very active in the church and always the first to volunteer when any need arose, whether by playing the piano, teaching a class, driving the van, or spending a week with the kids at camp in the heat of the summer.  She loved working with the children and she never met a stranger.  Just ten minutes with her and you were family.  She made everyone she met feel seen, understood, and loved and you were not walking away without a hug.

The ultimate joy of her life was her eleven grandchildren.  She showered them with her love and always showed them patience that her sons were unaware she possessed.  She traveled miles to watch games and attend celebrations.  She had a whole room dedicated to making sure no one had to pack a bag to come to stay at Mamaw’s, just show up and all would be provided.  They never doubted how proud she was of each of them and how much they were loved.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents Delmer and Betty Humphreys, of Chickasha; parents by marriage Felix and Sylvia Chaney, of Chickasha; brother Orville Humphreys, who died in infancy; sister Jean Ross, of Carnegie; and brother Gale Humphreys, of Atoka.

Sue is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jackie Chaney, of Chickasha; sister Judy & Ray Martin, of Newcastle; sister Barbara & Larry Anthony, of Atlanta, GA; sister Ronda Humphreys, of Atoka; sons and wives, Adam & Brandy Chaney, of Chickasha; Kevin & Aubrie Chaney, of Broken Arrow; Mark & Amy Chaney, of Pilot Pointe, TX; Jeremy & Lori Chaney, of Chickasha; grandchildren Elizabeth, Devin, Emma, Madysen, Megean & husband Logan, Jessica, Kaelyn, Michael, Kamryn, Ellasyn, and Addisyn; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and others

Sue treasured the children of the church and to honor that love, instead of flowers, please donate to the church youth group of your choice.
