A funeral service for Bill Ray Nabors, Jr., age 58, of Amber, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2024, in the Bible Baptist Church in Chickasha with Pastor Emeritus Kim Hayes officiating.
Bill Ray Nabors, Jr. was born January 30, 1966, in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Bill Ray Nabors, Sr. and Mildred Nabors. He tragically passed from this life on Friday, August 9, 2024.
Bill was raised in the Chickasha and Friend communities. He graduated from Amber-Pocasset High School in 1984. Soon after graduation, he joined the Oklahoma National Guard.
He married Becky Gunter and with this union, he gained a daughter, Laura, and they had a son, Preston, together.
Bill worked for IBEW as a journeyman electrician for 18 years. Then in 2004, he went on active duty with the United States Army, where he held many responsibilities, but one of his primary duties was making sure fellow soldiers were cared for, which he did with immense pride. He retired from the military in April 2022, after serving his country for 35 years, 9 months, and 27 days of combined service.
On October 15, 1995, he married the love of his life, Teresa Woods, and with this marriage, he gained two children, Brad and Emily, and they shared over 30 years of life.
After retiring from the military, Bill drove a truck cross country for a time but missed his family. He then began working for Braum’s farm to have something to do.
Bill was a man of many layers. He was a volunteer firefighter for 20 years and during those years he volunteered for the Grady County District with the Amber, Friend, and Pocasset departments and for a time with the Keys Fire Department in Park Hill, Oklahoma.
He was very outspoken about his love for his wife Teresa and his family. Everyone who knew him knew how much he loved them. Bill loved Teresa with everything he had, he loved his children with his whole heart, and he loved his grandchildren even more. He was a great Papa and they held a special place in his heart.
