Elbert Wayne Wendling


Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at the Alex Southern Baptist Church in Alex, OK. The committal service will be held at Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Elbert Wayne Wendling passed April 21, 2023 in Chickasha, OK at the age of 88. He was born on October 30, 1934 in Lucille Township, OK to Theodore Jackson “T.J.” Wendling and Ruby Lee (Barbee) Wendling.

Wayne lived his entire life in Grady county. He married the love of his life, Judy (Dodd) Wendling on July 24, 1954. In August of 1963 he moved to the farm around Dibble. Wayne and Judy ran the dairy farm from 1963 to 1997. After 1997 they continued farming and raising cattle, even after Judy’s death in 2019, Wayne kept the farm until his death.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Jackson Wendling and Ruby Lee (Barbee) Wendling; wife, Julia May “Judy” Wendling; brother, Edward Wendling; sister, Leedda Franklin; and infant sister, Mary Frances Wendling.

Wayne is survived by his daughters, Sherrie Stumpf and husband, John, Karla Hurley and husband, David, and Julie Lovelady and husband, Howard;

grandchildren: Toye Weaver, Johnna and Matt Schoolfield, Pepper and Doug Tolson, D.W. and Jill Hurley, Dakota Rainey, Montana Lovelady, Kayla Lovelady, and Halle Lovelady;

13 great-grandchildren: Tristen Weaver and wife Lexi, Colton Schoolfield, Tinlee Schoolfield, Jemma Schoolfield and David Brown, Paige and Traycer Ridley, Dustin Tolson, Jandi Hurley, McKenna Hurley, Kennedy Lovelady, Nevaeh Lovelady, Blaise McCowan, and Kendrix Lovelady;

1 great-great-granddaughter, Paisley Ridley.
