OBITUARIES

Thomas Pearson Julian

Graveside service will be 3:00pm Friday, March 31, 2023, at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Thomas Pearson Julian passed from this earthly life on March 23, 2023, in Norman, Oklahoma. He was born March 14, 1932, in Lawton, Oklahoma to parents, Thomas and Juanita Julian. He is preceded in death by wife, Oleta Rose (Turner) Julian.

Thomas was an outstanding student and athlete at St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Chickasha, OK. He set two state track records and was an All-State Basketball player. He was voted the Outstanding High School Athlete for the State of Oklahoma his junior year of High School.

Thomas enlisted in the Army in 1951 and fought bravely for our country in the Korean War where he was decorated with the Korean Service Medal with Bronze Star, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Army Occupation Medal (Japan).  Thomas was even called “a hero” by those he served with in Korea.  He humbly never spoke of his heroic acts to his family, but they were always proud of his accomplishments and that he served his country so well.

Thomas married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Oleta Turner, in 1952. From this union came one son, Scott and one daughter, Stacey.

Thomas was well read and a great conversationalist.  He could talk with just about anyone, on just about any topic under the sun.  He enjoyed golfing in his earlier years and loved “driving out West” towards New Mexico, Colorado and Utah.  He was an avid walker and enjoyed walking at Sooner Mall and visiting with friends and acquaintances that he met there.

Thomas is survived by his son, Scott Julian and wife, Chantelle of Choctaw, OK, daughter, Stacey Martin and husband, David of Syracuse, Utah; grandchildren, Kelley Martin of Yukon, OK, and Petty Officer 2nd Class Julian Martin and wife, Bethany, stationed in Yokosuka, Japan.  Thomas also has four great-grandchildren
