Vernice L. Burnett was born September 3, 1931 at his home Southwest of Gracemont Oklahoma. He passed away on October 10, 2021. Graveside Services were Wednesday, October 13, 2021 in Memory Lane Cemetery, Anadarko, OK
Services under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Anadarko, OK.
Vernice married Donna Bilyeu on April 10th 1951 in Anadarko, Oklahoma. They celebrated their 70th Anniversary April 10th, 2021.
Vernice did farm and dairy work before he started working for the Rock Island Railroad where he worked for 23 years.
He always took his family to Church and became a member of Baptist Churches in the Anadarko, Hobart and Chickasha areas wherever he was working for the Railroad at that time. After retiring from the Railroad he worked at the Oklahoma Dept. of Transportation at Anadarko for 10 years. He then spent his retirement years west of Anadarko where he enjoyed working in his yard & garden.
Survivors include: wife, Donna of the home; two Daughters: Glenda Barr, Anadarko Oklahoma and Diann Shelton & husband Jerry, Hooks Texas; Five Grandchildren; Six Great-grandchildren: One Great-Great Grandson: his brother: Harlan Burnett, OKC; Daughter-in-law: Cathy Burnett Chickasha Ok.
Vernice is preceded in death by his parents: H.E. “Hank” & Mettie Burnett; two Sons: Ronald Burnett and Clinton Burnett, one Grandson: Robbie Barr
four Brothers: Alvin, Glen, Ulin & Floyd Burnett, and two sisters: Allene Vantine & Lola Saxon
