Hope Ann Owens


 Hope Ann Owens was born March 13, 1927, the daughter of William and Mary Schafers. She was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma the fourth of eleven children. She passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 94.
 Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Holy Name Catholic Church, Chickasha, OK. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
 Her parents lived on a dairy farm southeast of town. She started school at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School and graduated from eighth grade there in 1939. She spent her high school years in Iowa and Oklahoma graduating from Mount St. Mary’s in Oklahoma City. After graduating she went to work for Dr. Redding in Stillwater and took classes at Oklahoma A&M College.
 In early 1947 she met James Owens Jr., and on November 25th, 1947 they were married at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church by her uncle, Father Herman Schafers.
 James and Hope lived on a dairy farm Northeast of Chickasha where they raised their family. After selling the dairy herd, Hope Ann went to work at Delta Faucet as the receptionist, secretary and buyer before retiring in 1993.
 Hope Ann was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Victor, Bill, and Tony; five sisters: Clara, Josephine, Delores, Mary, and Helen; her husband, James R. Owens Jr., four children: Lillian, Larry & Sherri (twins), and infant son, Richard; paternal grandparents, Jim and Myrtle Owens, brother-in-law Joseph Owens and his wife Louise.
 Hope Ann is survived by her daughters: Elaine Merrifield, Joan Koos and husband Dave, and Irene Lehew; son, John Owens and wife Cherris; sisters, Jeanette and Francis; sisters-in-law, Betty (Owens) Ballard, Pat (Owens) Gibson;
 She is also survived by a multitude of much loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
 The family has requested that donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
