Marty Franklin Smith


 Marty Franklin Smith was born August 6, 1960 in Borger, Texas to Franklin Jess Smith and Dorothy Marie (Ray) Smith. He passed away Monday, September 27, 2021.
 Funeral services for Marty Franklin Smith, 61, of Chickasha, were held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 in the Pioneer School Gym.
 Marty attended school through the 11th grade at Anadarko, however he then graduated from Cyril High School in 1978.
 In 1977, he married Donna Rae Snider and to this union his children Chad, Chance, Amy and Chase were born.
 Throughout his life he worked a variety of careers. He worked as a machinist at Spradling, for Western Farmers and as a lineman at PSO. He worked in the oilfield for a bit then worked for the city of Anadarko. He was employed at Grady Memorial Hospital for over 20 years before he moved on to US Waters. He currently worked for Pioneer Schools, where the children there loved “Mr. Marty.”
 On March 13, 2009, Marty married Debra (Ratzlaff) and they loved spending time riding their Harleys together.
 He loved the sport of wrestling, hunting and fishing. Marty never met a stranger and he loved everyone, treating all people the same and always taking up for the underdog.
 He was preceded in death by his father Franklin Smith and both sets of grandparents Oscar and Lola Smith and Lige and Grace Ray.
 He leaves behind his wife Debra Smith of the home; mother Dorothy Smith of Cyril; son Chad Smith and wife Diane of Elgin, son Chance Smith and wife Brooke of Langley, daughter Amy Smith of Chickasha, son Chase Smith and wife Holly of Cyril; stepdaughters Jennifer Congdon and husband Jeff of Edmond and Amanda Hamlin and husband Corey of Carney; 18 grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law Tammy and Randy Cocheran and Rhonda and T.J. Tallent; nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
 Interment will be in Laverty Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
