July 6, 1935 – September 2, 2024
Blanchard, OK
Ellen Lorrie McEntire, daughter of Nual and Dorthy Blackwell and one of four siblings died Sept. 2, 2024; she was 89.
Born in Ringling, Oklahoma, on July 6, 1935, Ellen graduated from Ringling High School before marrying RJ McEntire. The couple moved around the country, living in various places before settling in Blanchard. The couple had six kids and were married for 41 years until RJ’s death. Her unconditional love for her family could be seen in her joy-sharing experiences with her children and, later, her 11 grandkids and 14 great-grandkids, often hosting family dinners, potlucks, and big holiday celebrations.
Ellen was an avid bargain shopper, garage sales, and antique hunter. She also enjoyed crafts like crochet, sewing, and embroidery. Her crochet blankets were always the hottest item at the annual Family Dirty Santa game. She kept her mind sharp with jigsaw puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune with dinner and could often be found gardening or admiring white fluffy clouds, watching hummingbirds and cardinals, or relaxing indoors with her pet cats and birds.
Her internal strength was a beacon for her family and friends, from raising her kids to recovering from multiple health issues throughout her later years.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Nual and Dorthy Blackwell, her husband RJ McEntire, her brother Cozell Blackwell and wife Lana Blackwell, and her twin sister Helen Blackwell.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 6, 2024, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Burial will be in the Ringling Memorial Cemetery in Ringling at 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 6, 2024. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
