Inattentive driving causes collision


The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that on Thursday, April 20, a driver was placing his drink in the cup holder and collided with a parked car which struck the driver who was outside the vehicle looking under the hood.
 The incident happened about 5:45 am on the east bound side of H.E. Bailey Turnpike at mile marker 82.5 in Chickasha, Oklahoma in Grady County.
 A 2006 Chrysler 300, driven by Christopher M. Devasure, 29 years of age, of Perkins, Oklahoma. was traveling east bound in the outside lane, looking down to place his drink in the cup holder. The driver looked up to see the roadway curving and made an attempt to swerve to miss a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Alvin D. Bottoms, 64 years of age, of Cement, Oklahoma and collided with the Chevrolet Silverado which then struck the driver who was outside of the vehicle looking underneath the hood, displacing the driver into the grass according to the report.
 Driver of the Silverado, Alvin D. Bottoms was transported by Chickasha EMS to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted in stable condition with a head and trunk internal injuries.
 The Driver of the Chrysler was transported by Chickasha EMS to Grady County Memorial Hospital in Chickasha, Oklahoma where he was treated and released.
