Chickasha Women wins Distinguished Achievement Award

The Norman Delta Kappa chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha recently presented the DAA award to Judy Jernigan for her service to the Chickasha community.
Judy’s response was “I’m humbled, I’ve never thought of myself or what I do as outstanding.”
Chapter members recognized Jernigan for her work with Mobile Meals, Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen. These programs provide food that meets the nutritional needs of Chickasha’s residents.
Jernigan and her mobile meals teams pick up and deliver approximately 30 to 35 meals per day, five days per week to homebound and others who may be in need of assistance with meals for a modest fee and in some cases free. She volunteers one day a month at the food pantry which provides non-perishable food to area residents, and monthly at the Chickasha soup kitchen that provides a hot lunch again 5 days a week.
The Distinguished Achievement Award (DAA) was established by Epsilon Sigma Alpha to recognize outstanding individuals each year who demonstrate volunteerism by unselfishly giving to others and helping the less fortunate.
Delta Kappa has presented the award yearly since 1983. For more information about the DAA award and the organization contact Sharon Storms at 405-996-0677
