Anadarko Community Library Expands Collection for Preschoolers

The Anadarko Community Library has received a Ready2Read@Your Library grant, which includes an estimated $1,500 in preschool materials designed to enhance pre-reading skills for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers and $2,000 in grant funds to purchase additional early literacy materials.
The grant also includes a unique opportunity for the community to learn from professional storyteller Valerie Kimble. On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at 10:00 am Kimble will share a fun interactive storytime program filled with stories, nursery rhymes, songs, puppets, and more at the Anadarko Community Library, 215 W Broadway.
Kimble is a certified media specialist, who worked at the Pioneer Library System for 13 years, and has told stories around the region.
Parents and caregivers are invited to visit the library and learn more about the importance of reading with children to help them learn sounds, increase vocabulary, improve comprehension, and grow to love reading.
The Oklahoma Department of Libraries and Friends of Libraries in Oklahoma administer the Ready2Read@Your Library grant, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services support the grant under the provisions of the American Rescue Plan Act.
The Anadarko Community Library hosts a preschool storytime program every Tuesday at 10:00 AM geared to children five and younger and their caregivers.
