Chickasha Downtown Park Phase One Groundbreaking


Groundbreaking for Phase One of the Chickasha Downtown Park was held last week on the south side of the Rock Island Depot. CMS Willowbrook will be in charge of the construction.
 The first phase will include the Leg Lamp Structure inspired by the “Christmas Story” movie. This 50 foot tall lamp will replace the blow-up model which has graced this area for the past two Christmas Seasons and had gained national and international attention. Along with the leg lamp, an Arts Plaza and renovation of the Railway Express Building on the corner of 1st and Chickasha for restrooms and retail space will be part of the first phase.
 Phase One which should be completed by November of this year. Pat Brooks, the President of the Chickasha Community Foundation stated, “ All funds for Phase One have been raised by private donations.”
 Major Donors to Phase One include: Bank of Commerce, Tim and Melissa Elliott, Chickasha Economic Development Council, First National Bank, Toye and Tim Reynolds, Jimmy Johnson, Jay’s Jewelry, Virginia Ramsey, MidFirst Bank, Liberty National Bank, Phillip and Kay Wint, Judy Jernigan, Rockey Talley, Chickasha Inc., Standley Systems, Pat and Paula Brooks, Charles Allen Ford, Steve and Abby LaForge, CMS Willowbrook, Diana and Larry Brown, DeHart Air Conditioning, Pollution Control Corp, Jack Donnellan, Jay and Janie Epperson, the Ann O’Bar trust and the Chickasha Community Foundation.
 Plans for additions to the park will include: an amphitheater, jogging and walking trails, a food truck court, a children’s play area and other items to be determined based upon citizens input.
