Kenneth Richard Stewart


Kenneth Richard Stewart was born July 11, 1933 in Lexington, Oklahoma to Edgar McGirk Stewart and Hannah Frances (Axtell) Stewart. He died on Friday, April 15, 2022 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
 A private family memorial graveside service for Kenneth Richard Stewart, 88, of Amber will be held in Lexington Cemetery at a later date.
 Ken graduated from Lexington High School in 1951. He then attended Oklahoma A&M (now OSU) and received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1955.
 Having been enrolled in ROTC throughout college, he joined the Air Force as a second lieutenant and was a Navigator with the Strategic Air Command during the cold war, serving 8 years. He transferred into the Air Force Reserves for a total of 20 years of service to his country.
 After his active Air Force service, he attended UCO in Edmond for a time, then received his Master’s degree from OU.
 On August 12, 1955, Ken married his junior high sweetheart, Carolyn Sue Morrell. They shared over 66 years together and raised three wonderful sons.
 Over the years, Ken taught math and science at Hoover Junior High, Star Spencer Middle School, Carl Albert Junior High and Western Heights. He was an honest and devoted family man, always working hard farming, cutting wood and teaching, anything he could do to earn a living for his family. He enjoyed farming and put much of his time and energy into it. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Chickasha. He was well liked and had the “Stewart Boys” charisma.
 Ken was preceded in death by both parents; brothers Edgar Mac Stewart, Jr., James Homer Stewart, William Joseph Stewart; sister Judith Loraine (Stewart) Proctor.
 Survivors include his wife Sue Stewart of the home; sons Paul Stewart and wife Julie of Norman, Brant Stewart of Amber, and Mark Stewart and wife, Marie of Amarillo, Texas; grandsons Kemp Stewart and wife Brittany of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida and Alex Stewart and fiancée Lisa of Oklahoma City; 3 great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends. 
 Services and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
