Nevada Lee Melton


 Nevada Lee Melton was born on Thursday, September 16, 1926, in Atoka, to Henry Thomas and Ada Lee (Knee) Stevenson. Nevada passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022, in Chickasha at the age of 95.
 A celebration of Nevada’s life was held from March 5, 2022, at the Family Life Center in Rush Springs. All arrangements were entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow. Online condolences may be made to www.CallawaySmithCobb.com.
 She attended school in Stonewall, OK, but had lived in the Marlow area since 1941. Nevada married the love of her life, Elga Wade “E.W.” Melton, in Lane, OK, on November 7, 1941. She and E.W. celebrated more than 53 wonderful years of marriage until he preceded her in death in 1994.
 Nevada ran the fruit stand in Rush Springs for 16 years. She enjoyed cooking and was a cook at Falls Creek for 10 years. Nevada also enjoyed making candy, especially peanut brittle. She always helped her church any way she could, and even taught Sunday School for 10 years. Nevada loved her family and enjoyed all the time she got to spend with them, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. She will be missed by all.
 Survivors include 4 sons: Raymond Melton and wife Darlene of Buckhorn, Jerry Melton and wife Keeda of Midwest City, Johnny Melton and wife Ann of Marlow, and Clifford Melton and wife Tana of Marlow, 5 daughters: Lois Loveless and husband Paul of Rush Springs, Betty Sanders of Ninnekah, Bessie Hammond and husband Wesley of Mustang, Mary Ann Kelley and husband Kurt of Muskogee, and Vanita Kay of San Antonio, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
 In addition to her husband, Nevada was preceded in death by her daughter Joyce McClemore, parents, 2 brothers, Henry Thomas Stevenson and Ernest Stevenson and sister Ruth Anderson.
