Weldon A Foster


 Weldon A Foster was born in Rush Springs, Oklahoma on the 19th of January, 1930, to Loyd Clayton Foster and Neva Winifred Foster, the 6th of 7 children. Weldon went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 4, 2022, at his home. He was 92 years old.
 Funeral service were held on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Trinity Baptist Church, Chickasha, with Scott Guthrie officiating. Burial followed Laverty Cemetery. Services were under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
 Weldon was raised on a farm northwest of Rush Springs. He attended Little Rush, Fairview and Pioneer Schools, graduating from Pioneer in 1948. He had various jobs prior to marrying Fern Brantley on January 6, 1951.
 He went into the Army in March, 1951. He did basic training at Ft. Chaffee, Arkansas and on to Korea in September, 1951. He was seriously wounded in action on September 10, 1951, and was later awarded the Purple Heart. After being discharged from the Army, Weldon and Fern made their home in Oklahoma City where Weldon graduated from Blackwood Business College. He had various accounting jobs in Oklahoma City and Grady County. In 1960, he went to work for the Grady County Assessor’s office and was elected Grady County Assessor in 1971 and served there until he retired on January 1, 1991. During this time as County Assessor, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business from USAO in Chickasha. Weldon loved the Lions Club and was the secretary for 25 years.
 Weldon also loved his church and was an ordained deacon and served in many other capacities in the church. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church for 65 years. He was a faithful man of God and will be dearly missed.
  He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Fern, and his daughters, Linda Roper and husband Kenneth, and Rhonda Mayo and husband, Terry, as well as 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
 Weldon was preceded in death by, his parents, Loyd and Neva Foster, sisters, Foye Lee Wiles and Winifred Hastings, 4 brothers: L. C., Thomas, Bill and Wayne.
