Is Seeing Believing?

There are some folks who still use the phrases, “Seeing is believing”, and “when I see it, I’ll believe it”. Is seeing really believing? The answer to this question is absolutely not!!! Faith, Hope, and Believing are concerned with things in the future. Romans 8:24 says, “We are saved by hope; but hope that is seen is not hope; for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?”. In other words, when you see things that come to pass and they are no longer in the future, you no longer can hope, believe, or have faith in things that are in the present. Believing can only operate and be possible when you can’t see it, and when it is “not yet” made manifest in the present.
2nd Corinthians 5.6 tells us, “We (who are born again Christians) walk by faith not by sight.” As you can see, there are two different ways of living, functioning, and operating; walking in faith or by sight. Walking by “sight” means you operate only by what you see, smell, taste, hear, or feel in the physical realm; walking in faith means you are walking “in things hoped for a confidence, of matters not seen a conviction”. (Young’s Literal Translation).
So stay in faith and don’t be like doubting Thomas. He made the statement “I will not believe”. If we are unbelieving when it comes to God and his word, we will always be negative, stubborn, obstinate, and defiant!!! This is the nature of unbelief; unwilling to agree with the truth and the bible says that is evil!! Hebrews 3:12 says, “Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.” Just remember what Jesus told Thomas, “blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed”. Be blessed and be believing God’s Word, Love, and Power, Pastor Lynn
