Grady Fairgrounds busy in January

Kicking off the new year, the Grady County Fairgrounds hosted the Outlaw kart Superbowl inside the arena building. Also a Blood Drive was held on Saturday with donors receiving a limited edition KATT t Shirt for participating.
Coming up on January 15-16, the Fairgrounds will host Central 4D Barrel Racing in the Main Arena.
Barrel racing is an exciting event in which horse and rider attempt to run a cloverleaf or figure eight pattern around preset barrels in the fastest time.
Though both sexes compete at amateur and youth levels, in collegiate and professional ranks, it is usually a women’s event. It requires a combination of the horse’s athletic ability and the horsemanship skills of a rider in order to safely and successfully maneuver the horse through the prescribed course. Riders enter the arena at top speed and don’t let up until they have finished their ride.
